Step 1 – The Idea

Every design starts with a concept.

Sometimes it's something we've experienced in the water. Other times it's a funny moment, a lesson we've learned, or an idea that captures what surfing means to us.

Once we have the concept, we use AI as a creative brainstorming tool to help us visualize different directions. AI allows us to quickly explore layouts, compositions, colors, and artistic styles that might otherwise take days to imagine.

The images AI creates are never the finished product—they simply help us develop our vision.

Step 2 – Working with Designers

Once we have a clear direction, we send our concept and AI reference images to several talented designers.

Each designer brings their own creativity, style, and interpretation to the project. No two designs ever come back the same.

Sometimes one designer nails it immediately.

Other times we combine ideas from several different artists or continue refining the artwork through multiple revisions.

Our goal isn't to create shirts as quickly as possible.

Our goal is to create something we're genuinely proud to put the Sole Surf Company name on.

Step 3 – Choosing the Final Design

Once the artwork is complete, our team reviews every version.

We compare layouts, colors, typography, and small design details until we arrive at a final product that represents the brand.

Only after we're completely happy with the design do we move it into production.

Step 4 – Preparing for Production

The finished artwork is uploaded into our manufacturing partner's system and matched with carefully selected apparel.

Everything is professionally prepared so that when someone places an order, the manufacturer has everything needed to produce that exact item.

Nothing is printed ahead of time.

Nothing sits in a warehouse collecting dust.

Step 5 – You Place an Order

This is where your shirt begins its journey.

When you place an order, it is automatically sent to one of our trusted manufacturing partners.

Rather than pulling a shirt off a shelf, they produce one shirt specifically for you.

Your apparel is professionally printed, quality inspected, carefully packaged, and shipped directly to your doorstep.

Why We Chose Print-on-Demand

When we started Sole Surf Company, we had a choice.

We could order hundreds or even thousands of shirts, hoping they would eventually sell.

Or...

We could produce each shirt only after someone ordered it.

We chose the second option.

Yes, it costs us more.

Yes, it means production takes a few extra days.

But we believe it's the better way to build a small company.

By printing only what's needed, we dramatically reduce excess inventory, wasted materials, unnecessary packaging, and products that may never be worn.

Instead of warehouses filled with unsold clothing, every shirt has a home before it's ever printed.
